Default Muffler

Wonder if you guys could help, I'm about to fit an Aries muffler to my coupe, Have removed the old muffler it looks nothing like the normal muffler you see on a model A its just a standard cylinder type, stamped on it are the words and numbers,
Outlet, 46166, W352 anyone know any thing about it before it go's to the dump.

I think the old one is an old aftermarket muffler.

Some model A parts venders use to offer a fiberglass packed cylinder type muffler . Some have made their own by welding a straight through fiberglass muffler to the original type tail and head pipes. I had some head and tail pipes made up for this purpose . I didn't like the sound , it was quitter and didn't sound like a model A .

That seems to answer that then thanks for the info, might just keep the tail pipe, might come in handy with all the other stuff that may have came in handy over the last 50 years, thanks once again.
