Default N/D issue of Model A News Mystery Photo...

OK...I have been looking at the photo in the lower left hand corner of page 38 of Mr. Langlois's 1930 Cabriolet for over an hour now and I will be darned if I can figure out what part of the Model A this photo is featuring.

Anyone?

Thanks and Merry Christmas!

Pluck

Steve I have the same thoughts. I turned the picture all directions and was still scratching my head as to what was pictured.

Quite fortunate to have received your copies. Was told by the office that some mailings have been delayed.. so, we have to sit and wonder, during the lull in the holiday festivities.. just what it is you're looking at.! Merry Christmas to all. kb

When I saw that picture the first thing I thought was that is strange to show such a close up of the bumper. Were they trying to show just the face is polished and not the edges?

I was told that the edges were not polished and that this was called "Butler finish".

that is looking down on the bumper bars, so you can see the top of the bars. like Y-blockhead said. when the bars were made originally the top bottom and back were NOT polished. they end up with a dull finish on the top bottom and back side. it is not "butler finish " as fare as I can remember butler was only used on interior plating.
and I might add they look pretty nice.

Tried shifting the colors some, yes it is the top edge of the bumper bars.

That's a fender marker.

Weird angles of the top of the bumper which Ford did not buff the edges nor the backside. Butler finish was an interior plating on a very few body styles...

While we on the subject of bumpers... was original plating copper, nickel, chrome or just nickel, chrome?
