Brattons new reflectors?

Has any one tried Bratton's newly tooled aluminum reflectors, part #17950?

I know some people have had issues with re-pop reflectors from different companies and not being able to focus them right, it looks like Bratton's have built these ones to original ford specs to get rid of the focusing point issues...just wondering if anyone has bought and tried these yet.

Yes, ...we have installed quite a few sets. "Night vs. Day" difference between the Vintique manufactured ones.

Highly recommend them. I've been running them for a couple years and they are great - I also use the higher CP bulbs.

I have done some research on reflectors and bulbs. To get the correct focus you have to have the correct bulbs for your reflectors. The reflectors which have the socket hole offset 1/16" from the center (like the later originals) require a bulb with the two filaments equal distance from the center of the bulb. The reflectors where the socket hole is in the center of the reflector use a bulb with high beam filament centered in the bulb and the low beam filament offset above the center.

Hmmm....I will have to check the bulbs I have, I know the ones in the truck right now have 2 filaments that are in a shape of a V or A...depending on how you are holding them, The new bulbs that I just got which have the higher wattage high, have 1 filament that is in the shape of a V and 1 filament that is straight across, with no bends or anything

If your night driving you need the brattons reflectors. Put your originals on ebay

I installed the new Bratton reflectors and noticed that by lights had a more yellow look then my old Vintique reflectors. I am using the new Halogen 6 volt bulbs that fit in the original sockets. Do you guys think I should try a different type bulb?

I guess my question is should I use the Halogen 6 volt bulbs that fit in the original sockets or go back to a standard 32/50 cp bulb? I was hoping for better results from Bratton's new reflectors. If the yellow tint is from the lens can this be corrected or do I look for new lens? Thanks

I have the new reflectors from Bratton's and also the halogen bulbs and I am very pleased with the combo. My drivers side does seem to have a minor tint, I'm sure its from the glass lens, but all in all I'm not concerned about driving at night.

My guess is the halogens are sucking too much power for the wiring. Or trying to ...

Try connecting one light direct to the battery with heavy cables and see if it is then white. If it is, you need a relay and thick cables from the lights direct to the battery, thereby bypassing the light switch.

Do a search for "headlight wiring upgrade" for some ideas.

PS. This is a problem on some modern vehicles also where the manufacturers are too cheap to use anything more than two strand copper wire.

I don't have them, yet. But, they must be good because a buddy that does have them told me that now people that he meets at night 'flash' their brights at him, his lights are too bright and that never happened before!

We reviewed them when they came out. Did a whole test series and write up for the Times. They work very well.

I have them on a 30 pickup. One night an oncoming car flashed me asking me to dim my lights. I never had that happened before. well worth the price.

ok...so here's another question...I have noticed several people make comments about how cars coming towards them flash their lights because of how bright the new defectors are....isn't that a bad thing? I know I get irritated when a car goes past me with it's high's on, or stupid aftermarket lights that aren't designed right.....isn't there a happy medium? Bright enough to see safely by, not too bright to on coming drivers...

They make driving at night, a whole lot safer! At the cottage there are lots of deer run across the road at night and I now can see them much easier. Wayne
