Default Spark plugs in aluminum heads

What is Fordbarner's experience with something like graphite on steel spark plug threads to keep them from galling in the threads of aluminum heads . Thank you.

Back in the day I used to have air cooled VW's with aluminum heads. I used anti-seize on the sparkplug threads and never had a problem.

Always use anti-seize on the spark plug threads, when installing in aluminum heads.

If you want to be forever pleased,
use a dab of anti-seize.

Not too much, just a touch.

Then your threads won't strip
and loose their grip.
And you will have
a pleasant trip.

NeverSeeze has a second advantage in that it improves heat transfer.

Does the type matter? I've been using an ancient jar of copper anti-cease. Always seems like it works well.

Copper anti-seize is the only way to go. Been using it on aircraft for a long time.

I use the silver kind that looks like a big crayon. It's easy to "draw" some on the threads every time I have a plug out.

Thank you for the responses. I considered never-seize, but there are many different types of anti-seize compounds. It sounds like a copper based anti-seize works for some folks. I am not sure though if copper and aluminum are compatible with each other as dissimilar metals.

Copper and aluminum together is fine, aluminum and steel or iron is the problem child especially if you add water into the mix. If you come across old aluminum heads And look at the mating face, it's the parts that ar'nt covered with the (normally) copper gasket that have the real heavy electrolysis damage.

Russcc, I have used Never-Seez , made by Bostik, where I worked...they offer ten different anti-seez products, one which is good for up to 2400*F

I researched the galvanic series between aluminum and copper and copper is a far more "Noble" metal than aluminum. Here is the statement about it, word for word.
"In a couple with copper, however, the corrosion rate of aluminum is high"

Meaning don't use copper and aluminum?

But a gasket is not straight copper surely? Copper gaskets never hurt aluminium heads.

Gee whiz! This isn't difficult when comparing which metal corrodes when aluminum and copper are in close proximity to each other. The ALUMUNUM corrodes.
