'31 Coupe; not a how much is it worth Q, but....
This one is close to being sold for 'rodding' purposes, so it caught my attention. Posing the question NOT as a 'how much is it worth'(necessarily), but $6,000 seems fair(Y/N?). No engine, wheels are there w/ new Firestones. Titled.

It's all relative. It may be a good deal for somebody. Not for me. I drove this home for $5k
I know of another very nice coupe here locally for $5k that is complete, but not running.

Re: '31 Coupe; not a how much is it worth Q, but....
IMHO the price seems a tad high. I think $4,000 is closer, given that all the sheet metal is there, the title is clear, etc. If it's going to be a rod, the Firestones would probably be sold, as would the rear end, and maybe the front axle too.
Price would depend on condition of metal. |

What about the hood, radiator, brakes, chrome, trim, interior? $4,000 tops. Too much could be missing. Not a good gamble @ $6,000. JMO

I agree with these guys.
$4k seems more reasonable.

i was going to say that it depends on where you are. a car as apparently clean as that one for that price seems like a good deal to me. but then a fella right around the corner from me (dan baron) says no. so i don't know. there's a lot there that could make some money back for the buyer if it's getting hot rodded. but maybe the market is correcting itself and it is a little high.

Re: '31 Coupe; not a how much is it worth Q, but....
It's all there. Radiator was back with the rumble. Hood, brakes, shocks, etc included and in good shape. Forgot to check for the dome lamp and floor pans, but I think they were there. Would need to be reupholstered. I appreciate everyone's thoughts and comments. $4,000 does seem a lot more appropriate. Guess you can save them all.
Jim-it doesn't show well, but the wheel has a 'ridge' around the outer circumference where the two molds may have met. Likely an American reproduction. |

Looks like a great buy for the money, wonder why a "restorer" didn't step up and buy it.

It is a good buy here in N.H.too.It may not be so in other parts of the country, but here it is.If you started pointing out to the seller it needs this,that,$1000.here,$1000.there,they would just tell you never mind, the rod boys will pay the price. And they do.I had an unrestored coupe that I sold for nearly $9000. The best offer from A guys was $3500.The rod guy just looked, and bought it.There were others in line that said to call if he didn't take it.

Where I live in Ohio, 6000$ seems a little high. Around here it would go for maybe 4000$. Looks like a neat project anyway you choose to go, restore or rod. I would probably do a mild street rod, with a late model OHC, 4 cyl. engine and upgrade to hydraulic brakes and 12 volt electrics, with some late wheels and tires with trim rings and baby moon caps. Just my idea. It could be yours and you could do it anyway you want, thats whats fun about the hobby.

The older I get the more I want to just buy whatever I want even if its overpriced in my mind.....there are a thousand deals out there right now and some want bragging rights on what they purchased...If this car is something you want then just pick it up....looks like a nice coupe!

Re: '31 Coupe; not a how much is it worth Q, but....
For $6,500 I bought a non running 1930 Coupe. It was complete for the most part and all assembled. Interior was all original and in excellent shape. Didn't need anything major to get it running. I bought this in western MA. I'm sure it was worth more but the only one who was willing to pay that amount was a hot rodder. So he sold it to me for the same price. They are out there!!

Rodders will pay more that us stock guys.
What is the price of a steel repro body? the '32 goes for $24,000. Sell off the fenders for about a grand and a couple hundred for the frame and you have saved a whole bunch of money. How much does it cost to restore a model A to get top dollar and how much does it cost to build a rod that will get the same amount of money as a restored A?

Re: '31 Coupe; not a how much is it worth Q, but....
Around here, 4 or 5 sounds about right, pretty clean looking car. If I was in the market to build a hot rod coupe, 6000 is pretty good price. I have seen bodies only in the shape of that one sell for 4k. You could buy that for 6 and sell what you don't need and be in it for 3500.

Re: '31 Coupe; not a how much is it worth Q, but....
a clear title is a big plus for me. I have passed on cars just because the seller wasn't willing to get a good title before selling it to me. If it had a trunk instead of a rumble seat it might peak my interest. I was told that I paid to much for both my A's but they were the ones I wanted and have no regrets.
