"Peanut" came with about five, 5 gallon buckets of peanuts under & behind the seat of my 28 roadster pickup & one tired mouse. He didn't get to shell most of them before being evicted along with his pantry.

Re: Model A car names
I bought a 1937 Ford coupe 14 years ago and the family of the estate said I had to keep the name Stella on it . Stella Miller of Danville Ohio bought the car new in 1937 and was a school teacher who walked to her job.As far as I know it was the only car she ever owned.Still only has 24,000 actual on it but not the 60hp.

I did catch them rubbing fenders. Unless it was just my bad parking. I'll keep watching and hoping.

Re: Model A car names
I've been professionally working on cars my whole adult life and cut my teeth on the horn button of my dad's (my) Model T...
It has always puzzled me why folks name their cars. I recently had a customer referred to me with a 76 AMC Pacer... She named it after the old lady she bought it from, the name escapes me now... To each their own...SMH |

Re: Model A car names
Why I Named my Vehicles.
In my business I had a number of vehicles including 5 custom fitted trucks specifically for loading aeroplanes. Four were Mercedes 1418’s, they were affordable when I wasn’t flush plus economical to run and were almost indestructible. Those trucks and all other vehicles were numbered. Myself and drivers could never recall the numbers off the top of our head so I gave them names, some after the previous owners. They were Scrooge, Spuds, Chick e babe, Wahine, pronounced wa he ne and Freddy. Then we had no more difficulty in identifying trucks. The aeroplanes had 5 rego letters and were referred to by the last 3 letters of that rego. So that is why I named my vehicles. I guess after that it simply became habit to name vehicles. My A’s are Woofa.Express, Staff Car, Old Chocolate, and the General Motors Holden is simply The FX from which all that model is known. The pictures are Scrooge, 1 loading rice and 2, folded for travel.

Re: Model A car names
have not named too many of my cars, but when the Model A was behaving I would call it "Pussycat".
when it misbehaved I called it "the antiChrist". once had a 62 Falcon we called the Maltese Falcon and a 64 Rambler called the Midnight Rambler. first car was a 59 Impala, painted cameo coral so I sometimes called it the Pink Panther

Shasta was named by the previous owner that he had for 51 years. Shasta has to have parts, gas, oil, and a lot of loving by driving her almost every week. Been on 11 tours in the last 11 years and only problem was flat tire.

Re: Model A car names
My '29 "Sport" roadster is named the Clown Car. Because once, some years ago a Model-A purist here on the ..'Barn. Said that is what the car would look like after I added all the accessories that I wanted to put on it. I had not thought of a name until then. I thanked him for helping me name the car. He never responded!
My '31 deluxe roadster is called Virginia. The car was assembled in Norfolk, VA, in 1931. I purchased the car in Virginia, my dad was born in Virginia and my mother's name was Virginia.... so..... Bob-A |

Re: Model A car names
I call my '30 Town Sedan " George" for my good friend who owned it for many, many years. George and his college buddy landed a job one summer in the fifties on the Alaska Railroad and drove the car from Indiana to Alaska and back. They had major engine problems at one point along the way so George stayed with the car for two weeks while his buddy hitch hiked to Dawson, I believe it was, to order parts from the lower 48. They rigged a piece of plywood from on top of the rear seat back to the dash and one slept there while the other drove. The rest of the car, inside and out was stacked high with tires, parts, tools, luggage, food, fuel, etc. RIP George.
