Red-Lite Misery
After I've done a nice run outside of town, I'm getting hesitation/stalling while waiting for lite-change, they're getting longer now. Would the Model B Zenith be worth it? This is my second Model A Zenith now, and was wondering if I should consider.
Thanks |

Re: Red-Lite Misery
Fix what you have. If it is the carburetor, it should be an easy fix. Its a simple carburetor. Clean it, a tag wire thru the passages followed with a can of Deep Creep spray and some air should work. Set the float level. Adjust the idle mixture and speed, set the GAV at 1/4-3/4 turn out and it should be good to go.
First make sure there is not an air leak and the ignition system is good. |

I had that problem. Sediment in the float bowl was causing it.

Re: Red-Lite Misery
What’s the ambient temperature? It sounds the the beginnings of vapor lock. Try insulating the gas line and adding some marvel mystery oil to the gas. I ended up with an isolation spacer between the carb and manifold. I also built an aluminum deflector that not only shields the carb from the engine, but directs air from the fan. My car doesn’t “hesitate” after a run at the traffic lite anymore. If you shoot your carb in different places with a temp gun, you’ll be surprised how hot the carb gets.

Re: Red-Lite Misery
So after a nice long drive everything is warmed up and adjusted for cruising. I would try opening the GAV and maybe retarding the timing a little. Can you get it to die parked in your driveway? after its warmed up? I would adjust your carburetor idle speed and idle air
