Default Convertible top 1936 differences

Hi all
Is there a difference in the shape off the top
I have noticed if it is a rumble seat the top is more sporty than a club cabriolet
Do the top fit on both models if i wish to convert
Thanks everyone

Tim

The top irons for '36 club cabriolet fit nothing else. The top irons for '35-'36 cabriolet fit nothing else, and are quite different from '36 club cabriolet top irons.

I don't believe I have ever seen a 1936 club cabriolet. It has to be super rare. Note the angle of the spare tire carrier to clear the trunk lid.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the fast answer
I own the vineyard green Club Cabriolet, and i was thinking of finding a set off top irons for a cabriolet to have more sporty look
My next christmas wish is to have a set of steel wheels with hubcaps and trim rings
I know it is a hotrod sorry, guys
The car was bought original at barrit jackson in 2010 http://www.barrett-jackson.com/appli...&aid=323&pop=0
Bought the car as it is today and i am very happy with this combination
i just want the car to look a little more original
Thanks for your help

I believe the angle of the spare is because of the carrier from a sedan and not a Coupe, Cabriolet or Roadster. My 5W Coupe has a trunk with the lower angle carrier and does not interfere with the trunk lid.

Thanks

Great i think the carrier looked a bit odd too
Do you have a pic of your cars carrier, Gary
I have a spare carrier, from a 5w coupe i have sold, i could try and see if it is a different angle

Thanks Tim

The purpose of the longer, more upright top on the club cabriolet is to provide adequate head room for the rear seat passengers. In other words, the design intent was practicality, not aesthetics.

I am pretty sure the spare tire carrier for the cabriolet and the club cabriolet are different. The Club Cabriolet used a special angle which was to accommodate the trunk opening. The bolt pattern might be the same but the angle is different.

what DavidG said....a lot more rear top area with club vs. regular cabriolet....irons from regular cabriolet might work, but fabbing a top to fit would be interesting.....Mike

Trunk lid on the Club Cabriolet is longer than the coupe, roadster, or Cabriolet thus the tilt on the spare tire carrier.

Hell of a lot of work to make that swap.
My 35 cabriolet had been modified to accomodate two rear seats, the deck had been shortened, sort of a pre production club cabriolet. I wanted to return it to the regular factory spec so had to piece in extra length between rumble lid and cockpit. Had to remake top irons as mine had been modified. A lot of work, not quite convinced I got it spot on but it had to be done. As it has been mentioned the club cabriolet top is a very different top, built to take two extra heads!
You could perhaps re shape top bows, lower them a bit to give a bit more rake, but to be honest your car is a club cabriolet and it is probably best left the way it is. It is a rare car.
I only did mine because it was a bad conversion in the first place plus there was no such thing as a 35 club cabriolet.
It is your car of course but I would really advise leaving it as is, if you want to personalise it how about rear fender skirts, they take the eye down and away from the top.
