Default Oil pressure sending sensor

Recently purchased a 1941 Ford pickup , the truck was converted to 12 volts and all instruments work except the oil pressure gage . Searching I found the oil pressure transmitter that screws into the back of block did not have a wire connected to it that I think would probably go to the oil pressure gage , I want to retain the original instruments so I am looking for a solution .

you are correct, that is the oil pressure sending unit. look at the wire loom running across the firewall the wire to the oil sender should come out of that loom right above the sensor

You can always connect a temporary wire from the sensor to the gauge and see if everything is working. If so, then work on a more permeant solution.

Perhaps original oil pressure sender is original 6v unit. Then perhaps you require a 12 to 6 v convertor if you want to use original dash unit display.

If the other dash gauges are working I would assume he has a voltage reducer. And no wire to the sensor impedes proper function. But yes, all the gauges need a voltage reducer (one that handles all the units or an individual one for each unit).

The original 6V sender will work fine on 12V.I have done it a few times. Its the gauge that will need a volt drop.

The sender is the ground path for the gauge, so the sender sees what ever the gauge sees voltage wise.
