Default 68C top irons

I need an authoritative answer on the top irons for a 68C, only. Don't need to know about A or B. or about any other hardware or landau irons. Those I have Ford backup on.

Are the folding irons on the 68C nickel or chrome. I know that 68C is often akin to A400 and those are nickel. Dunno??

I have a pair of originals that are distinquishable(faintly) and what is left appears to be nickel. Also, the way they have deteriorated, does not appear to be chrome.

I am getting ready to make a set of remakes that will be of same gauge, etc as originals. Hopefully, exact as to originals.

I cannot/have not found in authoritative literature if they were chrome or nickel. Help, please!!

(Marco??)

Best to all,

BU

They were nickel. The only chrome was everything around the windshield EXCEPT the top iron assembly.

Actually Ford introduced chrome slide arms, Cups, and nuts for the 68-B and continued that with the 68-C and 400-A. The same applied to the brackets and thumb screws that clamp the front header down.
