Fuel Gauge Install
Getting ready to change out the float but not sure of the best route on the gasket upon the reinstall. Is it best to apply Permatex or another sealer or just install the gasket dry ? Also, how many brass rings should be used ? Welcome input. Thanx.

Re: Fuel Gauge Install
No sealant. Instead, a thin coat of grease or Vaseline on inside & outside surfaces of the gasket. This will make the whole installation easier and seal better as it allows greater flexibility (and "squash") of the gasket surface. Also makes life much easier next time you might have to remove the gauge. Works for me every time. Others might be of differing opinions or have other tried & true methods.

Re: Fuel Gauge Install
I use a very thin coat of Hylomar Blue on each side of the cork gasket, and a thin layer of oil between two brass rings. Has worked great for me, even when I've had to pull the assembly out a couple of times to readjust the float.
