Default Old School Parking brake fixture for stretched cable

I tried searching for this but Mr. Google doesn't seem to remember the JC Whitney/ Western Auto gadget that clamped onto a stretched cable to 'shorten' it. Probably got outlawed. Seen them on the old wrecks I drag home. Do they still make them?

It's actually for my '92 F350. I have had the rear axle mostly apart with new brakes, seals etc after a roadside disaster with perhaps too many beams on the load. Everything works well now, but no matter what, the parking brake doesn't grab until that far left pedal is about a 1/2" off the floorboards. Thanks! A simple device, just puts a kink in the cable to use up length.....

If necessary, 'gang' them. I think my old truck has at least two of them.

Sooo Funny!!! and yes the foreign dudes that assembled the thing for the picture got the hook in backwards. Would work fine once reversed, but the ones I've seen have a cast serpentine shape re-routing the cable. I like your's better. OK, to be honest here, my 47 tonner which made a good wood run today had the same problem and in a pinch I cut a couple inches outa the cable and then took a 12" piece of wire rope and cable clamped with 3 clamps each side, a splice that drew the cut ends together. It's a Very good parking brake, but with the '92 running thbe interstate and licensed/insured with my business I thouught it best to do it right. Well , sort of right. Gonna go to Rockauto! I see on Amazon that Dorman has some interesting ways to go about this ...

So, are we all in agreement that the hook in the photo is installed backwards?

Yep, the two nuts are used to adjust and tight the J-hook and go either side of solid part at the end where the hook is now. The J-hook needs to be between the studs to pull on the cable.

Yes, pretty sure that's just so it can't separate in shipping.

Interesting, I've always just seen them double nutted on the outside. I can see your point though.
