Default installing new brake cylinders

Inching along on my '40 coupe...... prior to putting new brake cylinders into service, do they need to be disassembled and the cups internally "wet down" prior to use? or just fill the brake system and bleed?

I have completely rebuilt and assembled almost the entire chassis (excluding the body) and I am ready to put the brake fluid into the master cylinder.

It has been a long time and I do not recollect disassembling a new brake cylinder prior to installing.

thank you,

fordman

if these are "brand new", and have not sat around for an extended amount of time-- you should be good to go. IF, for any reason, you suspect there might be some condensation or contaminent of any kind-- it's not a big deal to pop a cup out and be sure.

I agree with peteyshoes above. The cylinders should have been assembled with rubber grease initially. Slip a boot off the end and remove a piston and rubber cup, have a look. if they have been sitting a long time dry they may have slight corrosion or other issue. If they're clean and the rubber cups(under the pistons ) are perfect you are good to go. 2 minutes to check now, hours to fix later.
