License plate differences
In La. What is the difference in running normally issued DMV issued plates and La. 31 yr. Car plates, and Antique plates. Inspection, insurance???

Cars 40 yrs. and older do not require state inspections in La. If using a year of manufacture plate from 1931 it has to be the plate stamped "rear". As far as insurance I don't think it matters at all which plate is on it. That should not change the rate.

Eligibility: Any antique motor vehicle or motorcycle at least twenty-five (25) years old is eligible for this type plate. Requirements: The antique license plate is a lifetime plate. All applications for initial issuance or transference of an Antique license plate must be accompanied by: oA current color photograph of the vehicle oThe physical plate may be presented to the Specialized Vehicle Unit, or a color photograph of the license plate must be submitted with the file for approval. oOne of the following: A notarized Antique Plate Affidavit (DPSMV1911) attesting to the fact that the vehicle has not been and will not be materially altered or modified from the original manufacturer’s specifications and that such vehicle shall be used primarily for special occasions such as exhibitions, club activities, parades, or other functions of the public interest, or for necessary testing, maintenance, and storage purposes. A photocopy of a card showing applicant's membership in an antique car club. oIf the vehicle is not registered in the applicant's name, proper title documentation and fees must be submitted along with the request applying for usage of the plate. This plate type may be retained by the owner or remain with the vehicle when sold. All requests for initial issuance must be mailed to the Specialized Vehicle Unit, P.O. Box 64886, Baton Rouge, La., 70896. Transfers may be processed by any Motor Vehicle office or public tag agent. |
