Re: Helpful Tips: Removing Perch Bolts From The Front Axle, Model A
Ditto on the ATF and acetone but so many get offended when you recommend it for some reason? Only drawback is the acetone tends to evaporate in my pump oiler, so I mix as needed. Best I’ve tried.

this might be in the realm of the absurd, but would dry ice, or even whatever level of liquid nitrogen one can buy on E-Bay, affect how tight the perch is stuck?

Re: Helpful Tips: Removing Perch Bolts From The Front Axle, Model A
I'm encouraged by the success stories in this thread, and I especially wish to thank those who contributed stories of their experience. I'll post my results in a few weeks when the job is done.
Hopefully others can use this thread to help tackle this weirdly 'Ford' type of project. I made it a point to use key words in the title to help others find this thread in the future.

Re: Helpful Tips: Removing Perch Bolts From The Front Axle, Model A
My method was to clamp the axle/wishbone assembly to a bench that was anchored to the floor. Lots of Kroil was involved. I put a big pipe wrench on the perch bolt, and a five foot long pipe on the wrench handle. Give me a lever long enough.... Anyway, I was able to turn it maybe an 1/8 inch. Then I turned it the other direction, and I kept switching directions and each time I got a little bit more rotation and a little looser. I kept at this until it was fairly loose, and I was able to kind of "unscrew" it out with a little tapping to help it along. It was quite a workout.

"they come out like warm butter" sounds stimulating!. "a bit of heat". How much heat, and applied where? What color was the metal when you heated it?
