I had a set of air cleaners just like that on a J 2 Olds. It smelled rich at slow idle, I removed the top of the center carb and the motor speed up and it didn't smell bad anymore. I found a set of air cleaners with only the top and bottom, with no sides at all. I replaced the elements with three from Chrysler K car. They fit the air cleaner base and top, and are twice as tall. They looked cool on a roadster, and ran much better. Watch for hood clearance.

OK, just asking since I'm lookin for a replacement for my huge stock oil bathtub (Holley1904 223 six) and didnt wanna buy what is more available: chinese poop. I'd like one of those open dry 1bbl mid 50's air cleaners. Little flyin saucers as someone recently named'em.
