late V8 valves
Been shopping for rebuild parts for my late (year unknown) V8. I notice that 2 different valve part numbers are listed by some vendors (8ba-6505&1ba-6505).
Is this due to the use of valve rotators on some engines? How are they different? I assumed the height of the rotators was made up in spring length. Keeper grooves in a different spot too? My engine has the rotators and I planned on re-using them, so which valves do I need? |

Re: late V8 valves
If your looking for exhaust valves, why not use SBC valves. Their common as dirt, cheap and are hardened for use with lead free fuel. My friend had a head shop and he gave me 8 of them for nothing.
They last for 200K miles in cars and trucks, so they will last the lifetime of a flathead. |

Yes, the 1BA valves and related parts are for the rotators. The highlighted valves should be correct.

I went back and looked at my old valves...seems there were at least 3 different styles in there! Combined with the weak springs it's a wonder it ran as good as it did. |
