Default rootlieb hood quality

I am debating on trying to repair my original hood or going with the Rootlieb 1928-29 hood for the 29 roadster pickup.
A local model A club member told me there is an issue with the Rootlieb hoods at the bottom edge rubbing against the hood hold downs and that the bottom edge is turned out more than original.

I did the search function here and could not find any info other than threads with people selling Rootlieb hoods they were not using.

Anyone have any input?

Thanks!

Rootlieb makes great products and you shouldn't have any trouble with their products. I would first try to repair the original just for the sake of originality and the satisfaction of doing the job. If you fail get the Rootlieb hood.

I think Rootleib was outstanding. They did a one off design for my cabriolet. I am luck enough to live close enough so I dropped it off there and picked it up about a week later. It was a perfect fit and exactly as agreed to.

I can fix the hood, it will take probably 30 hours labor, which would equal more than the cost of a Rootlieb hood.

Thanks for the responses, I just wanted to hear from people with 1928-29 hoods to see if this was a consistent issue. Several members of the model A club told me they all had the same experience and one guy is using his hood anyway and the bottom edge does rub on the hood latches on his.

Thanks for your responses!
