Default Original, all steel, trunk racks...

if you happen to have an original, all steel, trunk rack, what would the "inside" measurements be between the leather strap tabs?

Mine measure 33-1/8 x 16-3/16.

Thanks.

I have a folding trunk rack like the one shown in the Service Bulletins June 1929.
Fig 725. It measures 16 ¼ X 33 between the leather strap pieces.

Steve
are you asking about a Standard Trunk rack that folds out (all black) or the Deluxe trunk rack (all metal with wood grained metal strips) that folds down. On my 1931 deluxe trunk rack the distance between the 2 strap holes (on one side of the rack) is 14.5 inches inside to inside. The holes are 1-9/16 X 3/8.

The (all black) one.

Thanks.

Used to be able to find those original ALL STEEL accessory folding trunk racks at flea markets long ago. They were generic to many cars of the era. In modern times, I've been on the lookout for such a thing but only managed to find a busted and rusted one on eBay that ended up selling for far too much money. Those commonly offered Made in China chrome n' wood reproduction Model A racks are obnoxiously gaudy. Often figured that if somebody manufactured a simple and functional folding black painted steel trunk rack, they would sell like hot cakes.

They do...I bought a reproduction very similar to the original that I now have a few years ago...They are out there, I think...I see Bratton's do not carry it so I do not know now.
