So the v8 cars started with 18 and the B's started with AB. I can't find a serial number on the ebay listing just that it has a 4cyl.

You don't need to test the metal to see if its a Brookville.DavidG on here has noted in several posts the obvious visual differences from the original.

All the seller says is that it is a 4cyl.You or someone needs to ask him or her if the title and chassis numbers corresponds to a 4cyl.The person listing the car I believe is just helping the heir to sell it.Since its from the San Diego,CA area a call to a V8 club regional member might shed some light on this car.

It's listed as "original looking" which may or may not be equal to original.

I hope your just watching it to see if there is some fruit cake out there that would pay that price.
The 32 roadster above the exit sign was a running car when I bought it for $1200.00

David, I didn't see the term original looking on the listing. They state twice that its an original .They also state in the specs that the trans is an automatic.I guess they are shooting from the hip. Sheldon

At what point in time was that $1200? A good door probably sell for that today. In the late 1960's I was finding 32 roadster bodies for $250-300.

I was referring to the one listed on the Club site; sorry for the confusion.

As for the $1,200 roadster, except for unusual circumstances, that sounds like the mid-sixties based on my experience.

There was a completely restored '32 Roadster on E-bay a couple of weeks ago that was quite impressive. It was gray with black and orange interior and was being sold from a private collection of old cars. Starting bid was $100K but I don't think there were any bites.

I always wanted a 32, 3 window but never found one at a decent price. I do have a 33 coupe which is a good car. I traded a 55 Chevy evin up for it. My wife said it not for sale. Now that warm weather here I can't drive it. I just got out of the horsepittle I call it hospital anyway the Doctor took my driving license for a month so my eyes get back to normal. This time I hope they are done cutting on me. Now I half to trust my wifes driving. I did get all the cars ready for warm weather.I wanted to get the garden ready for planting and can't do that as yet.I cancel the trip to the National meet this year. This will be the first one I have missed for a long time. Getting old I guess.Always got room for one more car I tell my wife. She gives me a dirty look but always gives in. She the best wife a fellow can have.

In the mid 70's while working on my 29 roadster pickup, I met a fellow by the name of Bill Honda. He was an owner of California Metal Shaping in LA. He found an original very low milage 32 roadster. Very early V-8, it had a fabricated oil pan. I was told by Kong Jackson that the first 100 or so were fabricated. I think the later were cast aluminum.

The only thing wrong was that one of the front fenders was shot so Bill fabricated in his shop a new one doing a 180 of the other one. You could not tell the new from the old.

Anybody know who ended up with that car. Has to bve worth a bunch.

If my accuracy sucks, that was almost 40 years ago.

Tim

It may be an old thread but I have to say , in my experience buying a 32 fresh out of the barn , some cars I saw were heaps , missing parts etc and owners thinking they have gold , I looked at ten offered , four were road worthy, the worst car wanted15 k and he still ownes it two years later with the same sales pitch ,,, these are gold bro,, the other was a pure vintage 32 stock for 15 k ten year build , to good to strip for a high boy , the others were in different states of condition , the one I found was complete , 4 banger , pleted seats spokes and a 21 stud thrown in with papers and was on the road in a week for 5k , so looking around can surprise you , on trade me in New Zealand there is a mint vintage for 15 k all steel from Henry delivered to New Zealand in 1933 , Us $85 , in my view a high boy is worth what one has put into it , hundreds of hours sanding , finding gear , managing the build ,, the finishing touch chrome and it goes on , love reading this forum thanks for all the tips and help thanks

They are still out there, but takes serious digging to find them. Took me 4+ years to find mine, wanted original, and sort of found it on eBay. Guy was selling 32 Pontiac's for a neighbor who's husbands pass away few years earlier. Happened to be in my town so talked to him on phone and found out she also had a 32' Roadster. Passed the interview (thank God) and Rosemary allowed me to purchase it. Fairy tail story but I guess was meant to be…they are still out there!

Heres a link to my thread on the HAMB about it gents:
