Talk about Roadster abuse

I've learned that for some reason, that body style was the most used and abused Model A Ford I suppose because it was less $$ to buy than a sedan.

Another reason I should have kept our '28 Roadster. It was an original (albeit restored) numbers matching all Henry Ford steel straight as a pin Model A with the original sales invoice. Dang I've yet to see a straighter Roadster that car was well maintained over the years.

You may be right. Remember the pick-up conversion kits they sold for coupes and roadsters? Seems like I've seen more roadsters with this conversion than coupes. I guess without a top, you could haul bulkier items.

On the recent Irishman Rally in New Zealand there were a number of fords to cross, the last one being quite deep and with a steep exit.
The recently restored speedster idled through these without problem although there were no brakes for some miles afterwards.
I gather a number of cars had to be towed out of the last ford (stream)
Anyone with photos of this, I would appreciate a copy?

For our American friends who probably have never heard of THE IRISHMAN, here is a 20 minute vid of the 2015 rally. Note a "small puddle" at 10.45 minutes and another soon after.
The Irishman is on my bucket list.

Pity the video is not shot from a Model A but that only means we see more of them.

Wonderful That Wensum brought up the Irishman Creek Rally and Synchro909 posted the videos. One of N Zs great rallys but not for people who do not want to get their car wet dirty and maybe broken--true vintage motoring. Its on my bucket list too! Great to see the big Buick keeping up with the Model A's. You will note that the most common car taking part in the rally is the Model A. Some say that the Irishman is just a proving ground for the Model A. Happy Motoring.

I was very impressed by how stable the camera was, with almost no cowl shake at all. In South Texas we would have driven around that second puddle, but I I think the point was to show you could do it.
We have some very scenic low water crossings, and we all learned as new drivers to 'ride the brakes' for a few yards to dry 'em out.

We drove every vehicle we had (and anyone coming to visit or delivery drove) through the ford on the creek at out farm from 1977 until about ten years ago. Never hurt anyone cars, washes the bottoms, like you pay for at the car wash.

I decided some of my kids who had really low modern cars needed a bridge, and forked out four grand for a concrete one we HOPE won't wash away during the next big flood. Haven't had one lately, but one fourth of July weekend the normally 2 foot wide (5 to 15 inch deep, depending on the weather) swelled on 35 feet wide and too deep for cars or cows, and swift flowing for about 12 hours.

That car was stolen by a druggie who failed to keep in on the road. Not an adventuresome Model A enthusiast.

I've been designing a trailer to pull my old Chestnut cruiser, since I didn't think it would go on the roof of my roadster. I've just been proven wrong!
