1942 jailbar filter mount
Hi all,
Working on the old 42 again, ( will post some pics soon), can anyone tell me how the oil bath filter secured to the carb? Is there a rubber section that goes between the two? A picture would be great if anyone has one to show how it is secured, any help is appreciated. Cheers Corey Attachment 48426920220203_164337.jpg Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk |

Just a clamp around the top of the carburetor with a long screw that reached all the way out to the edge of the air cleaner for easy access. Same as on the 39 sedan as I recall.

Originally, there was a thin, dense wool gasket in the filter housing that would "seal" against the top of the carburetor throat. These are nearly always absent.

Re: 1942 jailbar filter mount
Thanks Guys,
I will have a closer look tomorrow and se if there is a clamp around somewhere, i thought my filter had a solid ring where it was supposed to go the carb hence i thought there must of been an adapter/rubber section. I will have a closer look tomorrow as ive not been working on it this week. Cheers Corey Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk |

Top of my carb has about 5 turns of electrical tape to help the clamp out. Doesn't rattle anymore. Might look into felt though.
