Default What clutch disc

I recently installed a V8 clutch (with a re surfaced flywheel) and it will chatter just enough to pizz me off. I read somewhere that there is/was both a light duty disc for the cars and a heavy duty disc for the truck and that the heavy duty disc will cause chattering. I would appreciate some input from the V8 gang about this topic. I don't know what disc I installed because it was a part of a kit and I didn't know it mattered. If I knew what to look for I might be able to determine it by looking through the inspection opening on the top of the bellhousing. If it makes a difference this is in a Model A. Thanks

If its in a stock model A with stock motor mounts, that should be solid. The float-a-motor things can cause chatter sometimes. Never heard of a difference between truck or car v8 clutches, but what do I know. Usually chatter comes from , 1, oil on the disk, 2, bad or loose motor mounts, 3, pilot bearing or input bearing on the tranny, 4, uneven adjustment of the fingers on the pressure plate. Thats all I got, ...next....

I think you need to know what condition your condition is in. Meaning you need to figure out what you have. Cas makes good points.

We need more specifics on what you are working on. It sounds like it may be an A-V8, but we can't be sure.

Genarally. the trucks clutches are best used in large trucks only.

Some folks put the 9" v8 clutch & flywheel on the model A motor as its lighter, and better clutch. thats my guess as to whats going on here. who knows !
