40 Ford oil drain plug conversion
Is there a way to adapt a smaller drain plug on the original large one to slow the oil from gushing out when changing. Seems like I saw a how to item a while back on the barn. Anyone have a copy of this.
Thanks Warren |

Having the oil gush out is good, it will carry more debris out of the pan

Remove your stock drain plug and weld or braze in a threaded steel bung like this.

Re: 40 Ford oil drain plug conversion
just drill a small hole in your drain plug and tap it for a small plug, you can choose what size plug you want to tap to

That's really neat. Beware of speed bumps.

Re: 40 Ford oil drain plug conversion
Engines without PCV tend to generate sludge, especially if run with low temp or no thermostats and are too cool a lot of the time...as Kurt said, the rush to the exit is good at moving out the crud. You can also help some more out with a finger with the big drain plug.
