Up for sale today is a beautiful example of an American classic. It is an original all steel 1936 Ford 3 window coupe. A complete ground up restoration has just been completed on this hot rod, and it is now ready to be enjoyed for miles to come. (Listing for a friend, so please contact the number below)

First off, is the frame. The chassis was stripped down and sandblasted. A Chassis Engineering Mustang II complete front end setup was installed with Rack and Pinion steering. A brand-new John’s 9 inch rear end was custom made and set on a Posie leaf spring kit. Then it was loaded up with a .325 gear. The entire frame and all components were painted with a glass black single stage paint.

In order to stop this ride, there are a set of disc brakes up front and new drums in the rear. The chassis rides on a new set of painted 15” steelies, wrapped in rubber. Tires are VIntage Coker BF Goodrich up front with Firestone 235/15 in the rear and finished off with Ford logo hubcaps.

The best part of the car has to be the original body. The body is unchopped, not channeled, still has the original cowl vent opening, and the top has been filled. Since purchasing it last year, the body has gotten a complete make-over.

The body has a new set of floor boards and the wheel wells were replaced with a nice set of originals off a donor car. The rest of the body wasn't that bad, but instead of just mudding over it, I went ahead and installed the proper replacement panels in the lower doors, lower cowl, and lower quarters. The firewall was filled and smoothed out to show off the fantastic original metal patterning. The front fenders are all original along with the rest of the front-end sheet metal. The rear fenders are new Bob Drake replacements that fit up beautifully. This body, once fixed, was straight and easily finished up in the body shop. We decided on a black cherry gloss finish and finished off with new running board covers and polished stainless and chrome trim.

Inside the car is all brand new. The original steel dash was modified and now displays 2 New Vintage USA Woodward gauges along with a matching clock. The original glove box door with a new box complete the classic look. Under the dash is all nice and clean, with hidden switches, and all wired up using Rebel Wiring. The steering in the car is a new Flaming River column, topped with a shrunk 40 Ford wheel. The seat in the car is original and covered in a satin tan material. The interior in the car is reminiscent of the 1950’s styling with roll and tuck pleating and a fine wool carpet is on the floor. Behind the metal garnish moldings is all new tinted glass, with perfect regulators and cat whiskers finishes up the interior, and all three pieces of glass do roll up and down and the windshield cranks in and out as designed in 1936. As an original Rumble seat car, we have kept that feature and recovered the seat and surrounded it in new interior panels. The battery is hidden behind these new panels for a nice clean complete interior.

The power plant of the car is a mild rebuilt SBC. The engine features new headers, Edelbrock intake with matching Carb, Cal Custom Chrome valve covers and air cleaner. It is cooled with a new Walker Radiator and a Electric fan. Nothing too fancy, just meant to look understated and clean, but still gets this 3 window up and moving. Behind the engine is a completely rebuilt Turbo 350, and a Lokar shifter.

As you can see, a lot of time and money, especially the money part, went into this car. This car is being sold in order to let someone else enjoy it while I move onto the next project. I have put a few hundred miles on the car to get it all dialed in and it runs great. It is sold with a good Ohio title in my name. Email me or Give me a call and let’s talk.
