30 year knob

Is this gear knob a factory accessory ?

I assume it is made for a 33 model, being 30 years on from 1903.

Seller is advertising it not real cheap, so am asking what it is worth to buy.

5/16ths UNF and bakelite .

Not listed in the 33-34 book by the V8 club as an authorized accessory. Looks like something sold at a EFV8 National Meet.

pooch, "NO" not an original shift knob from 1933, but the coin/medallion fitted into the modern knob is more than likely original. These coins were sold at the Ford exhibit as souvenirs at the Chicago worlds fair in 1933-34 and were originally flat not convex as shown. The coin celebrated Ford Motor Company 30 years in business. The coins sell for $20.00 or so but sometimes higher if you want to be ripped off. Someone is making up these knobs and selling them at a substantial profit. They look nice though so buy it if you need it. Regards, Kevin.

The V8 Foundation museum may still have reproductions of the 34 shift knob from the exposition at about $20.00. They are a very nice reproduction by Dennis Carpenter.

The Early Ford V-8 Club has been selling specific model year reproduction gear shift knobs, made by Dennis Carpenter, at their national meets, for $20.00 each. I believe these knobs are being made for the 75th anniversary celebration of each model year starting with the '32. Knobs not sold at the meets go to the Foundation Museum for sale. Not sure if Dennis has reproduced the one as shown in the OP.

Jm 35 Sedan got a 1936 knob for me. I think it as a good repop, the only thing is the insert started to rattle, I just glued it back in. thanks John!

Brendan, I bought a '39 shift knob last June at the Gettysburg, Pa meet. Put it on my '35 Fordor just to see how it would feel shifting with a larger knob. While driving on the meet tour, the transmission popped out of second gear so hard that the center piece of the knob flew out. Somehow it wound up in the back of the car on the floor . Just snapped it back in place and kept on rolling.

Enclosed is photos of a 1932-- 75th Dennis Carpenter Anniversary knob, and the other photo shows a another 75th Anniversary knob I made out of Lignum Vitae wood with a 3/W glove box knob and a knob for a Fulton hand brake extension.
I found the 1932 -- 75th Dennis Carpenter Anniversary knob was very thin and weak as I only had mine a short time on the gear change lever, and it fell apart and broke at the seam.
