Default Hand wiper setup

Can anyone tell me where I can find pictures of the hand wiper setup on the inside of the windshield of a '29 CCPU?

The picture below is a NOS 28/29 open car manual wiper. The short part goes though the top part of the windshield. The handle with the plated knob is on the inside. I should add that 28/29 CCPU's uses a wiper that has a slightly longer part that goes through the tube on the top of the windshield, otherwise they look the same.

I have a repro hand wiper on my ,29 Phaeton and it's a POS. Anybody able to tell me where I can get a decent one. I gave up dealing with Berts a long time ago That's a whole story on its own but I won't go there now) so they are out.

Thanks for the reply Rusty. I apologize that I did not make myself clearer. it's the setup on the windshield that I'm looking for. I've seen mention of "tubing" and I don't know what that refers to

I think mine has been altered..the tube looks shorter than Bob's drawing...

Probably a repro wiper arm...

Here is a pretty good picture of the wiper tube on my 29 CCPU. It appears to be spot welded to the top of the windshield frame as well as the 2 rivets on the vertical part. I don't think parts suppliers sell the tube part used on the windshield.

The picture of Rusty's is the way my 1929 CCPU and still is on my huckster. Hand wiper does not work worth a darn. I am thinking on getting my electric wiper motor repaired and install it.

I bought that tube from Burt's a few years ago. They had an old windshield frame that I was able to take the tube off, and place it on my windshield. It looks great, but I use Rain-ex.

My 1929 RDSTR PU is not on the road yet. My Skyline A's members kept telling me that the hand-wiper would be fine with RAIN-EX. I wondered about that, but a month ago I bought some washer fluid with RAIN-EX for my 2011 T&C, and all I can say is WOW!

The hand wiper on my 28 Phaeton works about as good as used toilet paper.

Rain-X is the way to go.

Question Rusty,

Does this look correct for the 82-A Windshield frame?

Papa's CCPU,
The lower picture is the correct windshield with the tube for the wiper shaft. However the hinge part has been cut out way too wide. The hinge part with the cutout for the wiper should be about 1/2" to 5/8" if I remember correctly.

Papa's CCPU,
The picture you posted doesn't allow me to see the length of the tube very well. The tube bracket riveted to your windshield flame looks correct, however it is possible that someone cut it off for some reason. Depending on how picky you are, if the tube was indeed cut off, a solution to the problem is to use a spring like a fellow did in the picture attached. I can measure the length of the tube on one of my windshields and post it here in Fordbarn if you want me to.

Thanks Rusty,
It's a windshield I am looking at to buy. Hoping to get better pictures today....
I have read that the Pickup is different in size, but could not find any reference using the search to come p with dimensions.
Is the pickup windshield taller?

I am sure that a 28/29 pickup windshield frame is the same as a passenger car's windshield frame. The difference, as you know, is the wiper area. One of the reasons I am sure a pickup windshield is the same as a passenger car windshield is in the Ford Service Bulletins, the glass chart on page 250 shows the glass (PN A-45455) as the same for both windshields.

The closed car windshield frame is the same as ccpu. Be aware that the 26-27 T coupe/tudor windshield frame looks the same, but is a different size. Likely would have the hand operated wiper with the same tube. Rod
