I had my upholstery installed and am trying to install my rear view mirror. Things are not going very well. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this. I have probed with an awl and think I know where the screw holes are? Do I need to cut headliner and possibly any backing material to make sure I can get the screw to line Up? I have spent some time trying to get this done but not making any headway. I am looking for suggestions! Any help is appreciated!

I would use a pin so not to make a large hole in the upholstery material. Lay a piece of paper up there and search untill you find the correct screw pattern on the paper for your mirror and install it.

The rear view mirror on a 36 closed car mounts on the inside edge of the front winshield trim. Install the inside windshield trim first, then remove the 2 screws at the top center of the windshield(1 on each side of trim), put the mirror bracket on top of the holes and replace the screws.
