Rebuilding Zenith Carb
Hi,
I am about to start rebuilding a Zenith Carb. After it has been bead blasted how would I refinish it? What kind of primer/paint should be used so that it will resist gasoline? Thanking you in advance. Don |

Lustre Kote Model Airplane Paint Pick it up a hobby store. It is fuel proof and it holds up well. Using the search button you will find many threads on this subject.

Seen that written many times on different sites. They always say Laquer and have mentioned that brand too.

Re: Rebuilding Zenith Carb
POR 15 is a one time "permanent" deal only "if" one follows all directions recommended exactly to the letter.
Key points for POR 15 product use includes correct, exact POR 15 surface preparation; use of rubber gloves to avoid oily skin fingerprints; recommended time for curing; realizing POR 15 is more mechanically fastened to an etched surface rather than chemically fastened to a smooth surface; & it can be topcoated with different coatings from dull to shiny in any application on any metal surface. In all coatings, the most important coat is always the first coat on the prepared surface -- this metal surface is where oxidation & breakdown of adhesion takes place first. |
