Default Installing Headlight Lense ????

I removed the three clips on my right/side headlight ( '29 Special Edition) to correct a slight mis-alignment from perfect vertical. For the past hour and at the loss of three finger nails, I cannot install even the first clip. Have you used special tools ?? I used small needle-nose pliers but for the life of me I can't figure out how to reinstall those pesky clips. Thanks for your help

You might want to open the other headlight (but not remove the clips) and use it for a pattern to install the clips on the first headlight.

There is a bolt at the bottom of the headlight that is used to align the headlight. There is a ball joint there. The bolt can be loosened to move the headlight right or left to align the lens vertically. The glass lens has a groove at the bottom that mates with a tab on the headlight metal rim. If the lens is not inserted into the tab you will never get the clip fastened. Put the lens back in the tab and put it back on the headlight. Then use the bolt at the bottom to align the headlight left or right. Do not change the tilt of the headlight so that the lights are not aimed up or down. Do one headlight at a time so that you can compare it to the unmoved one to check the tilt. There are instructions for aligning the headlights in the Model A manuals.

There are three small protrusions on the O.D. of the lens that the clips fit over to prevent the the lens from rotating and keep it secure. I use a small needle nose plier to install the end of the clip under the rim.
As nkaminar said, vertical alignment is accomplished by loosening the the ball and socket on the bottom of the headlight attachment and aligning it.
