Default Re: Two piece crank shaft pulley

I bought a new one-piece from a local vendor. Attempting to put it on over the crankshaft stub I found the hole in it to be 0.015 too small. The sheeve seemed correct in all the other dimensions.

The vendor took it back with the question "Do you want me to have this hole expanded to the proper size." Fearing quality issues in "other" areas of this I declined with "Maybe return this one to YOUR vendor and they can work to increase their quality control?"

If we accept poor quality they will be more than happy to sell us poor quality.

I installed a new crankshaft pulley on my roadster in 2005 and found that the new pulley wouldn't slip over the crankshaft stub . Rather than sending the pulley back for a refund , I used one of my adjustable reamers from Harbor Freight to just enlarge the hole in the puller enough for a proper fit .

Lucky here. Used a two piece pulley from Rick's of all places in 1972, made in Argentina, and the dang thing is still going strong

I'm off to buy a Megamillions ticket because of that yeah even as we speak

I never really had problems with Ricks parts . The problem was that they didn't have a lot of the parts that they advertised . Probably nearly half the parts that I ordered was back ordered
