That's much easier than many people think. If your front motor mounts are old, the job has the additional benefit of replacing them with new. With a small section of 2x6 on a jack, place this under the forward part of the oil pan, remove the motor mounts as if you were going to replace a water pump. Lift the front of the engine to put the radiator hoses on an angle & remove. While it is jacked up, put the new hoses in place, and lower the engine to engage the hoses. Don't try to do both at the same time, but rather, engage one, then the other.

You'll want to leave the hose length long, don't cut it short. Also, use new worm gear clamps, and silicone grease on the inside of the hoses makes it much easier to do the job next time.

Do not jack up the engine more than required, to prevent interference with fan/radiator, and oil pressure sending unit/firewall.

I just did that job on my 37. Book calls for 5 1/2 in hoses but when I measured the distance waterpump to radiator it was closer to 5 1/4 in. Use new hoses, Hang the clamps on the radiator and water pump first, bend the hose in the center till its doubled over and get one edge on both ends started. Use a kotter key tool or small screwdriver to roll the rest of the lip of the hose on.

Come on...it's not that bad!! JimTN has described very well the technique to use.

I cheated on my old 37. Cut the hose down to where it had only an inch on the radiator and water pump outlets. Loaded up the inside of the hose and outside of the outlets with Vaseline and forced the hose way onto the radiator. That left just a little prying to get the other end onto the water pump. Then centered the hose and put on the clamps just inside the end of the outlets. The Vaseline seals little dings and pits in the outlets and makes the next change a lot easier.

Oh, boy, I hope you don't ever let your front motor mounts get mushy and sloppy.
