I use a Greyrock manual and it is a good reference.

A quick over view
Remove the drums and weld up the tracks that the shoe pin rides on so the so the shoe is centred ,.Weld up or shim up the king pin rod so the clevas arm is 15 to 20 Deg before center .Check that the linning is a woven or high coafishant type .check the the equalizer shaft is not to worn ,check the clevas es are not exsesivly worn .If you have new linnigs get the drums good and rusty then ride the pedal to burnish the linnings in to match the drums .
Adjustment
Tighten up the adjuster so each drum just slides ,on Axle stands ,Let out the rod clevis so you can just slide the pin through with the lash taken out ,Road test it and adjust as you go by heat in the drums so the fronts are warmer than the rears .If all this fails buy my floaters. Ted

One other step before adjusting the rods is to ensure that the brake rod arms on the cross shaft are exactly vertical while adjusting the rods.
