Attempt two at a sacrificial anode
Well, after a long discussion with my partner and a little foray into electrolysis. I have come to the conclusion that my original idea for a sacrificial anode is bad execution of a good idea. In short, the whole thing works by electrolysis, which requires continuity. A chain makes a very poor conductor of electricity and the use of one in this instance, while looking fancy, is a bad idea.
Essentially what I did was replace the chain with a length of 12 gauge stranded wire, soldered to the radiator cap and attached firmly to the anode with a #10 screw. I checked the whole thing out with an ohmmeter, and there is minimal resistance from one end to the other. Hopefully, this will provide a path for the electrons to do their dirty work on the chunk of magnesium instead of my nice aluminum heads. I got the idea for the chain from a nice looking zinc fish hanging on a chain that someone was selling. I thought it looked real good. Re: Attempt two at a sacrificial anode
In the maritime industry, it's pretty common to electrify the hull of ships to prevent corrosion.

Re: Attempt two at a sacrificial anode
You might consider a washer and nut on the end of that #10 screw. As the anode melts way, the threads in the anode may also melt.

Re: Attempt two at a sacrificial anode
That's what I was originally considering, but there are no extra openings on the Edmunds heads. Plus I'd like one in each side, since they're kinda small.

Re: Attempt two at a sacrificial anode
Here's another interesting Fordbarn discussion about sacrificial anodes.
