Default Mystery Crank Pulley

I had to buy two pulleys to get the one that I needed, wouldn't separate. The seller did not know the origin of the mystery pulley, please let me know if you recognize it, thanks!

Looks a lot like a flathead V8 pulley that has had the other pulley removed to to make it fit earlier car with single belt, the later ones had the spiral groove in the seal area if I remember correctly

My memory is not what it once was. However, I am 99% certain this is for 1939 "standard" models with the 85HP.

I believe you are right and desirable for those you like to run a one belt set up, particularly with a 2X2 intake.

While Ford may have made one like this, I frequently take the pulley that has a fan mount on it and "whack" the end off on my lathe - for exactly the same reason that Ford probably made this one. It works really well in a 32 - 34 frame.

Found this photo of a '39 standard coupe I'd restored about fifteen years ago. You can see the pulley...

I think Kube has it right. The 1939 Standard Ford (with the regular 85 hp V8) still placed the fan blade up on the generator pulley, so there was no need to mount anything to the crank pulley. Because the crankshafts grew in length for 1939, they had to have the “extension “ on the front side of the pulley to fully cover the added length of the new crankshaft.
