1933 pick up firewall removal

Can the firewall of a 33 pick up truck, with a 4 cylinder motor, be removed - or is it welded in place like the model A's were? Trying to resolve old issues with a heater, heater hoses, way too many extra holes etc. Figured I'd ask the "go to" guys for the answer before blindly attempting it.

Maybe spot welded in places and riveted.You need to brace the cowl if you do that.

Definitely spot welded in place. The 1932 models are the only post-Model T ford vehicles with detachable firewalls.

I would try to weld them up depends what else is wrong with it .Ted

I welded up 32extra holes in the firewall of our 38 conv. made plugs for the big ones, just welded small ones...much easier than removing firewall

I hacked up the firewall in my 1937 back in ‘67 to fit a 289 in it. When it came time to repair the damage and all the holes from a previous heater install, I cut out the center of the firewall and patched with a replacement from a donor firewall. You might be able to see the repair in my avatar.

Firewall is all part of the cab, cowl, top and rear panel.
mine was a swiss cheese too but I just found grommet hole plugs of various sizes to snap in place and covered with speed shop decals, Pennzoil and gasoline stickers.

Late '32 through '34 closed cabs have detachable roofs. They are not spot welded in place.

IIRC, the firewall + cowl structure isn't welded to the floor - only riveted - as is the rear door jamb + rear panel structure, making it relatively simple (albeit time consuming) to knock-down a cab.
