Default am i missing something?

my stricker plates were shot on my '31 coupe. I got the new ones from Snyders, and they're adjusted all the way towards the door, or outside of the car. the door latch only catchs if I SLAM the door and when I drive I pops to the first latch. is there something missing? its the grooved door post + the grooved stricker plate. if I have it on the right way, I can't see why or how they have adjustment to go back towards the inside of the car, the door latch will never even touch the stricker plate.

30 coupe' could you give me , or can anyone give me the measurement of the front of the striker plate where the latch holds to. the height of it. i'm thinking it is not tall enough for the latch to hold. its not the same height of the first hold. its lower.

just wondering if I can change-out the door latch on my '31 without taking off the panel? if I remove the 4 screws, wonder if I can disconnect the arm for the latch release, and just swap it out without removing the panel?

We didn't have to remove the panel on my '29 & the new locks from Bratton's were PRIMO! & made from STAINLESS, I won't even paint them, they're SO PRETTY!

Shims under the striker may help.

Purdy, I was going to do that. but then when I looked at the latch, everything was sloppy on it. and the main spring is weak.
