This is actually part of the Service Bulletins and appears right on the 'net!

Take a look at http://www.mafca.com/downloads/Servi...p250_Glass.jpg

Note however there is an "error" in this diagram.

I'll see if I can find it...

Yup. Doesn't affect you per-se. The diagram you want is on the upper LH top corner of the page. It erroneously shows for Tudor and Coupe in those years but this statement is not correct.

Many have gone off in this direction for glass for their 28-29 coupes and tudors and found that the glass did not fit. Ford in this diagram is actually referring to the 26-27 coupes and tudors which share the same door skin (and window) as the 28-29 closed cab trucks.

The glass for 28-29 coupes and tudor doors are on the RH side of the 2nd row down.

You may want to talk to your glass supplier about available thicknesses of safety glass. (you are using safety glass are you not?) See the chart which indicates glass thickness based on a single layer of non-safety glass. Today's safety glass may or may not be within the desired thickness depending on the glass source of supply. If you go slightly thicker, you may find your windows are heavier and don't "balance" and will tend to slip down in vibration. You may need to play with your spring in the window riser.

So try to get close on thickness.

Many people use tempered glass for the side window glass and the rear window for model A's. Modern cars all use tempered glass for the sides and rear windows. I believe, by law, the windshield has to be laminated. This is what type of glass I used for my 28 special coupe. The tempered glass looks exactly like the plate glass Ford used originally and doesn't have the plastic in the middle that shows on door glass.

Is the thickness of the glass 1/16th?

2nd line on the chart, 2nd image from the right. For plate glass the thickness is 5/32 to 9/32.

Some of the other glass elements have their own specific thicknesses specified, but you'll see these contained within the outline of the particular glass.

You'll see in the first line the triplex glass thickness which is thicker - but not what you want except to fit in your front windshield frame.

I had mine made from 5 mm plate and tempered.

They slide in the repro bailey channels at just a nice fit.

Not too tight and not too loose as to vibrate down.
