Default Funky Sump plug

Ok am I missing something?
I know it was Very hot day here in Darwin and the heat may have affected my Brain but I just tried to drain my oil for the first time on my Model A and for the life of me I can’t get my sump plug out.
I loosened the plug and it started to undo, then all of a sudden it just seemed to be spinning on the spot.
It looks like there are two separate threads. A big outer and then another in the middle where the plug head is. The Larger one is the one that is spinning.
I have stopped working on it and packed up because I have learnt when to call it a day before I destroy the car accidently.
Is this normal? my next step is just to drop the whole sump with the oil still inside and clean up the mess later.

Not normal
Sounds like it may have some sort of thread repair (helicoil) that is spinning
if that is the case remove the sump and weld a new bung in it

The bung has broken away from the pan.

That happened to me a couple months ago. The threaded insert is swedged to the pan. I drilled a hole through the drain plug to drain the oil, then pulled the pan. Snyder's sells an insert to replace the old one. I welded mine with an oxy acetylene outfit and it came out very well.

Had the same problem, had to pull the pan and weld the part back down. it is a strange way to make this part.
