If doing everything by yourself you could come out ok if nothing shows up that's not expected. But then again with some of these cars there is all ways something. Most don't have the space or tools to everything themselves. I for one could not afford to pay 20,000 for a project without having to live on food stamps. That is allso why I have been trying to get ideas on turning a fordor into a coupe. Kind of the way I see it free fordor 3,000 or so in parts and a bunch of my time and end up with a real solid 40 standard coupe body.

YOUR CAR IS MUCH MORE COMPLETE, USUALLY FLOOR & FRAME ARE GONE, $12-$15k FAIR PRICE, 1 JUST SOLD FOR $12K NOT NEARLY AS GOOD AS YOURS, ALSO HOW MUCH WORK U CAN DO YOURSELF, IN CLOSING, HOW LONG BEFORE U FIND ANOTHER COMPLETE 40 CONVERT IN A BARN, HOPE THUS HELPS, GOOD LUCK, R.J.

I agree if you have the capital to just buy one but i prefer to tell a story about how hard i worked to bring a car back from the dead...Ive done it with one car....but patina cars are hella cool and you can drive and park them like any other car!!

I think 2500 is way too low, I would think that car is worth about 6000 to 8000. You can always start at 5000 and see how it goes, I paid 7200 for a '40 pickup that was in terrible shape, I spent about 13000 on it all work myself including rebuilding the 59A to perfection. All told I had about 21000 in the project and still needed upholstery, guages, and oak bed. Sold it for 20,000. But I enjoyed every minute of working on it for eight years. It turned out to be a good looking driver, but not a show piece. Good luck!
