Default Our new shelf above the windshield in our 28 closed cab pickup

There just isn't a lot of room in the cab of our pickup so I fabricated a nice shelf above the windshield. Tonight was the first time we were able to really test it out and we love it. Not only is it a great place to store things like garage door opener, glasses, umbrella or whatever, it also diverts the air better when you open the front window all the way. I added side pieces to the shelf to prevent anything from getting sucked out the windows and it worked great at 50 mph.

A metal brake was used to make some little steel hangars which support the front of the shelf. The shelf was made with poplar and stained with a pecan stain which matches the top wood pretty good. Looks like it belongs there.

Nice Job...which reminds me...An old man we hunted with told of his cousin's Model A that had Sun Visors on both sides, and a Winchester model 92 carbine would fit perfectly between them and the ceiling and not fall out as long as the car stayed right side up.

The roof timbers run the other way in my '30 CCPU so I made my shelf deep enough to come back tot he first one of them for support. The shelf holds a radio, though it is a waste of time while we are driving, sunnies, logbook, ear plugs and 12 volt outlet etc

Good idea on the 12 volt outlet. I've been thinking about doing that. Should be pretty simple to install in a discrete place on the shelf.
