Default Mitchell overdrive in 36 ford coupe

Have the Mitchell overdrive units been changed or modified or will I still have to modify my rear floor by cutting an opening to make room? I have a 36 standard coupe.
Thank You. Frank

You'll need to cut the floor.

Yes as above, you will need to open up the floor where the trans tunnel meets the step up in the rear floor. I friend of mine had to do this on his coupe. I dont believe the overdrive box has been modified. Call them and ask the question. Regards, Kevin.

Yes, you will have to modify the floor in one area.

FYI, I put one in my 39 Std. Coupe and the only thing I had to do was to hammer the corners at the tunnel just a little for clearance but I didn't have to cut any of the floor.

Put one in my 40 had to do nothing to floor except put the shift arm to the bottom. Now you pull cable to engage OD and push in to disengage OD.Hit a bump with someone in back seat and it would touch floor
