Default Tudor Colors....in need of some pics to compare

Im restoring a 1931 tudor sedan. its an April/May car and its not the deluxe tudor but i wanted to paint it brewster green with the black upper body and apple green stripe/wheels. Then today my dad was asking me about lombard blue... well.. it grew on me and now i cant decide . Could someone post a few pics of your tudors' in either of those two colors. a nice outside/full car shot and also an interior shot with the dashrail/ moldings shot would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks everyone!

My 28 Tudor in my Avitar is Arabian Sand lower, Chicle Drab upper with French Grey stripe.

I like it and most people like it but is isn't very flashy. The bright colors get a lot more attention.

Contact "Glenn in Camino" for a picture of his 28 Tudor. It is a beautiful car and a beautiful color which I can't think of the name at this time.

Here is some more.Forgot the inside shots.Also as you can see some of the interior molding is painted ford maroon and some is still primer.This will explain the 2 colors.I ran out of good weather to paint.As a note the A is totally finished now,but are they ever really finished

Black with Apple green stripe/wheels and please "NO" White walls... l.o.l. I also like thorn brown but its incorrect with Orange wheels ["NO" white walls Please ]with a orange stripe.Just don't care for the straw color.

The cover of the newest Model A News has a Lombard tudor with that fantastic Hession Blue wheel color. Big thumbs up and not that common of a combination. Looks real nice on Marcos roadster too.

Thank you Jim for the pictures!

Greg, yes i saw that when mine model a news mag came in the mail yesterday and its just funny how my dad mentioned it today and then it came that afternnon in the mail LOL.

Also, i have a few more Questions...

1. in jims pictures there i see that the interior pieces and dash rail are black, but in the model a news the cover car's is gray. could the 31 tudors have either black or gray for the dashrail/trim pieces??

2. how about wheel colors?? can you have hessin blue wheels like the cover car or gray like jim's? how bout hessin blue wheels with black inside trim?

3. when shooting the colors, does the whole car get painted the main color (lombard blue) and the the bottoms masked off and the upper body color(black) is shot ontop of that? or vice versa?

Mike, A 1931 Standard Tudor could have black, straw, apple green, and hession blue wheels according to the Judging Standards. The interior trim molding were marroon. Colors for you car depend on what you are wanting or building. For show you would want to follow the judging standard finishes. If it is not for show then it is your car and you can paint the color and trims that you want to.

I don't recall which one but I believe their is a club's website that has a tab that lets you swap around the paint jobs on a roadster. It's pretty neat.

Washington Blue below on a Coupe

Confused? So sorry I started out with a 1931 instead of your 1929. Don't know how I got that wrong. I corrected my post here to reflect the 1929. As far as I can read there was no Standard and Delux, just a Standard in 1928 and 1929. So here goes...skip.

Answer to your private message for the other's...
Harold asks~"What is the color of your roadster in the thread on the roadster mirror question?"-->skip~"She is Lombard Blue over black primer with clear coat on top."

Harold asks~ "Also what are the color combinations you posted on the Tudor color question, especially the last one."-->skip~"All of them? Let's see. I'll have to back and look." I looked. I don't know the colors, these are not 1929 cars I pictured.

Here are your 1929 STANDARD Tudor colors and combos. [518,588 units built]
Upper & Lower--> Belt & Moulding-->Reveals-->Stripe

[Your 5 choices for St'd. 1929 are]

Bonnie Grey-->Chelsea Blue-->Chelsea Blue-->Straw
Vagabond Green-->Rock Moss Green-->Rock Moss Green-->Straw
Rose Beige-->Seal Brown-->Seal Brown-->Orange
Andalusite Blue-->Black-->Niagara Blue Lt-->French Gray
Black-->Black-->Black-->French Gray [Dropped September 1929]
Black-->Black-->Black-->Medium Gray [Available October 1929]

[Top~Black Long Short Grain Artificial Leather.]

Interior Trim-->Blue Hairline Stripe. Brown Check [Piped]. Black Rubber Floor.

skip.

Here are a few shots of my '31 Tudor, in Brewster Green (Medium) lower body, black upper body, belt, reveals and molding, with apple green stripe.

As with Lombard Blue, the medium green "pops" in sunlight, and turns very dark in shadow. The apple green stripe fairly jumps off the black, especially in digital images.

I like it, and it closely matches some printings of Ford's March, 1931 magazine ads (Kewanee and Elkpoint???? Brewster and black???? You be the judge!) for the Tudor.

This car probably started life in Thorne Brown. In 1967 I painted it Ford Maroon and Black. The most recent livery is ten years old. I'm partial to black uppers on a Tudor because of the way the black rubber top swoops down into the upper color. As you can tell, I'm also partial to black tires and wheels.

However you paint it, enjoy your Tudor!

Andalusite Blue I think is Jim Baskin's color. Also 'Our Member's cars' in my post. Sorry about mixing up the years. '29 not '31.

Close Skip,but no cookie.Harold the color is Lombard Blue.Thank you for the complement.I actually handed the Finish and Paint Guide to my wife and showed her the color chips for a 30 tudor and she picked Lombard Blue.I wanted to paint it all black,but she said she didn't want to ride in a gangster mobile.I'm glad I listened to her as we have had many complements on the color.Enjoy your A.
