The Janitor
This part called the janitor, I'm thinking about installing one. Are they difficult to install? Do they bolt on? Thanks in advance

Re: The Janitor
Never heard of it-outside of the profession. What is it-maybe a picture?

Re: The Janitor
Louieglen, I have one on my Town Sedan. It was given to me when I bought the car because the PO thought it had a rear main leak. So I installed it. Turned out most of the oil was coming from the oil return pipe.
I installed it anyway but my rear main doesn't leak much. The diaper seems to work OK. I put a "feminine napkin" in it and change it once a month. Last edited by Y-Blockhead; 03-15-2015 at 01:59 PM. Reason: Punctuation |

Re: The Janitor
It is a "snap on - snap off" installation. The holes are large enough to just snap over the bolt heads. Very simple to do and keeps any drips off the driveway.

Re: The Janitor
I have one, works great but can be tricky to remove. I put an oil drain pan under it and let it dop.

Re: The Janitor
I've got the same problems as Mitch//pa in post #9 above.
Janitor? Fix the problem, not the symptom. |

Re: The Janitor
It is not bolted on, just compressed over the bolt heads.

Re: The Janitor
I used the Janitor for a while, along with absorbent pads, just as a Band-Aid for the symptoms, but only until I fixed the problem. Now the janitor has it's special place on the shelf in my garage as a gentle reminder of days gone past.

Re: The Janitor
I put a rubber stopper in mine to simplify emptying. Drove it like this for three years before getting a real fix. Gotta do whatcha gotta do.
