Re: 1928 1929 title
Call and talk to your licensing agency, ask them what hoops that you'll have to jump through. You should be able to ask general questions to figure out what you'll have to do. I would imagine that you'll have to show receipts for all of the parts, but who knows.

Re: 1928 1929 title
hoops, or flaming hoops?
tell them as little as possible. in that situation, here in ca. i involve the chp they provide the document free of charge and the dmv accepts that to apply for a new title. remind your self that it is not salvage and not built from a heap of parts. this is the way i bought it sir. |

Re: 1928 1929 title
Take your frame number down and tell them you lost the title of the car.
Don't tell them its made from a pile of parts. Just opens a can of worms. |

Re: 1928 1929 title
I live in NH and had to have my local PD do a VIN check. Since the 29 Tudor body covers the frame where the VIN would normally be, have them take the number off of the engine and follow the advice posted by "Dodge" from there.

Re: 1928 1929 title
OH is a completely different animal from all of the states mentioned. It is NOT an easy state to get titled, but one of the worst. Calling dmv isn't going to help you much....
If you want t o make it easy-call Andy. |

Re: 1928 1929 title
The less they know the better. If they dispute the title the burdon of proof is on them. Satisfuing the minimum amount of paperwork is all you need to do. See if you can get a Bill of Sale from the person you bought the body from with your engine or frame number on it depending on your states laws (in Nebraska they use the engine number for all pre 1948 cars). Next apply for a bonded title. This is what I did for a tiltle for my delivery sedan. Worked well for me here. Things in Ohio may be different. Rod

Re: 1928 1929 title
I am sure every person you talk to at the DMV will give you a different answer. Do what ever it takes to get it registered as an original Model "A". The frame #'s are not visable when the car is assembled. Just buy a title and register it. There are people that sell titles. I bought mine from a company advertised in a magazine(Street rodder,or Streetscene),it came with a bill of sale, signed by the person on the title.

The OP already said it was a homebuilt frame and built from a heap of old parts. To the OP: Why don't you go to the DMV and tell them you built a car using a homebuilt frame and a heap of parts and ask them what the process is to obtain a title? |

Re: 1928 1929 title
I'm in Ohio and I went through something similar. If you go for a homebuilt title you need to have it inspected by the Stated Patrol. The appointments sometimes take months to get. I think it took me about 3 months. You also need receipts for EVERYTHING. They are very picky about receipts. They want to know where all parts come from. If you check the T-bucket forum they can help as alot of them have been through the process. I believe many states have toughened up their titling procedures for hotrods and maybe vintage vehicles also. I know from experience that Ohio is very strict. They are also clamping down on titles being sold without the cars to be used on another car.

Re: 1928 1929 title
If you title it as an "assembled vehicle" you need all the modern equipment, like windshield washers, wipers, turn signals, seat belts, and other items you may not want. I went through that mess with a dune buggy years ago, never again. No two people at the DMV,or police station, will agree on what you need.

The time to have asked this question was before you bought or built from a "heap of old parts". JMO
