Default Ok, it's not a Ford, but it's "our" era: Engine manufacturing.

If you can put up with the terribly British accent, and the music, this is a very interesting film showing manufacture of engines and gearboxes etc. Morris Motors in the 1930s. The detail of the machining processes is very well portrayed.

I really enjoyed it, I hope you do too.

Mart.

It was a very interesting film. I want to know where to get some of those drill bits they show drilling oil passages in the crankshaft at about the 2 minute mark. I was particularly drawn to the length of those connecting rods.

I have a lot of bits similar to those. They are used in the aircraft industry and I purchase them surpluses.

Great video, thanks for sharing. Large-scale manufacturing always amazes me. The machinery alone required to make thousands or millions of a given part, with absolute repeatability and extremely tight tolerances is awe inspiring, even for something as "simple" as a bushing for instance.
