Default rear end oil

what should i use for rear differential oil in my 1953 mercury? can i use the Lucas 80w90 gear oil without any problems?

its says it exceeds gl5. do i need to run gl4 gear oil?

Not in a rear axle, GL5 is a transmission issue, not a rear axle issue. High EP additives can attach "yellow" metals, like those found in a transmission. That should not be an issue in a rear axle.

ok so using the Lucas 80w90 gear oil in the rear axle should be fine. just wanted to make sure.
