Default National Fordbarn Tour

Would anyone be interested in a National Fordbarn tour? I would! Here are some ideas that came to mind.

This would be a picnic and tour, held in 12-15 different locations on the same day. Call it a “national tour” or “world-wide tour,” but there would actually be many regional tours all happening on the same day.

We meet at the closest regional location, eat a bag lunch, swap some parts and lies, go touring, and then post photos and videos on Fordbarn!

Here are some possible locations, but any number of others could be added:

1. Portland, OR
2. San Francisco, CA
3. Los Angeles, CA
4. Denver, CO
5. Kansas City, KS
6. Dallas, TX
7. Richmond, VA
8. Charleston, SC
9. Jacksonville, FL
10. London, UK
11. Melbourne, AU
12. Others…

What to bring:

1. A bag lunch
2. At least one Model A owner who isn’t already a member of Fordbarn
3. At least one young person under the age of 40 who isn’t already a Model A owner
4. A few parts to sell or swap
5. Your newly minted Fordbarn badge, which you can later eBay for big money J

Why would I come to something like this?

1. You will meet at least one Fordbarn member face to face
2. You will be actively passing the torch to at least one young person
3. You will be promoting the Model A hobby
4. You will introduce at least two new people to Fordbarn
5. Your photos will be the envy of Fordbarn members who thought this was a dumb idea
6. You will be counted as one of the enlightened elite J

If you were to add New Mexico, Ruidoso or Truth or Consequences are both central and easily accessable to the population centers in the state.

Actually, to make it National, you should try for at least 48 simultanious meets.

Most of us didn't exist in 1931, either.

I think The tour is a great idea! I'll help with the Portland part.

And all the school kids, if they can locate AK & HI, will locate them just off the coast of southern CA.

Great Idea but why limit it to just Model A's? What about the rest of us Ford owners?

Hey ! Lets add GA and AL and FL, there is lots of A and V8 and Ford Barn interest in these areas. It could be set up much the same as International Model A Ford Day. I would work it into our clubs tour schedule. It could be May 31st, since a meet at Clear Point State Park at Eufaula, AL is already scheduled. What a great idea to expand interest in the "barn." BTW, the Eufaula meet is FREE low country boil and Bar-B-Que sponsored by the State of Al...

How about coinciding with our museum's event. It is scheduled for the third weekend of September every year. We could include publicity regarding the museum and perhaps raise some funds for the museum. I know a shop that could come up with a neat logo and put them on T shirts. He does stuff for me and other Model A folks. He is willing to handle all the details like collecting the money and shipping the shirts etc.

I am sure I could get a few Model A's from the San Francisco Bay Area to participate.

I like the T shirt idea...with each club using a similar logo, but customized for the state....would make a cool thing to collect...not that anyone needs 50 tee shirts. Wouldn't have to wash for a while.

I'm not too sure about your date of December 15th. It would be fine in Florida, but, up north ?
The V8 members have been doing this, in Florida, for several years. Check in the V8 Section. It will be easy to find. There is one coming up, soon. I'm sure the "A" Models would be very welcome. You could see how it operates.
