1933/34 radiator mounting pads.
I would like to know the approximate thickness of the rubber pads under the radiator mounts.
If someone could help before I install properly would be great as it must affect alignment of the hood. Thanks Graham |

Re: 1933/34 radiator mounting pads.
I have used frame whelping and also 1/8" rubber pads. Neither will effect the hood alignment. A 1/8" over a 3' fall will have very little effect.

Re: 1933/34 radiator mounting pads.
Sometimes I'll work with the rubber pads to add/remove a bit of thickness to get the alignment the way I want it. Every car is just a bit different - though we all know that the geometry between the bottom of the radiator, the radiator itself, the cowl rods and the hood itself usually needs a bit of adjustment to get it just right. Keep in mind, this is especially true if the radiator has been reworked, re-cored or is a reproduction - things may not be exactly as they came from Ford, so a bit of "shimming" can be necessary.

Re: 1933/34 radiator mounting pads.
Graham,
I finally got around to tracking down the NOS pads that I have. They measure 1 3/16" x 2" x 5/32" with the hole centered. There were heavily reinforced with fabric suggesting that they may have been made from recycled tires. |
