Default Spare tire lock

Do the same guys that do ignition switches also know about spare tire locks?

Here is my question in case someone reading this has the answer,

The band spare tire lock had the lock assembly chrome plated. There is a "pin that stakes the cylinder in the assembly that would have had to have been put in place after plating and after the cylinder was put in the unit. Would this pin have been plated separately, or would it have just been polished steel? Same goes for the pin for the swing cover.
